Training Wheels Parenting Podcast

Central has a new parenting podcast called Training Wheels. In the podcast, Pastor Jeff (and an occasional guest) will offer tips and insights to help parents give spiritual guidance to their kids. WOMEN’S BIBLE STUDY – 1 & 2 Peter

Starting Feb. 10, Andrea McCartney will host a women’s Bible study on 1 & 2 Peter. Meetings are Monday evenings, 7:00-8:30pm in Central’s Lower Family Life Center. Women of all ages are encouraged to sign up at centralsf.org/peter.

RESGEN MEN’S SUMMIT – Jan. 25

The ResGen Men’s Summit will be here on Saturday, Jan. 25. The Men’s Summit is a one-day conference with the mission of challenging men (ages 18 and up) to grow and fulfill their calling as leaders, husbands and fathers. The conference features five dynamic sessions with books and other resources to help men live out what they learn. Cost is $40 and includes a delicious lunch and snacks! Bylaw Updates for 2020

We have info about some proposed changes for our 2020 bylaws. Executive Pastor Tom Rich has more details in the letter below, but you can also CLICK HERE to download a PDF of the bylaws to review. --------- Central Family, On January 18th and 19th, Central Church members will have the opportunity to vote on a proposed by-law change. I wanted to send a quick note highlighting the more significant changes that are being proposed and the reasoning behind it. This is by no means meant to dissuade you from reading through the entire document, but rather to provide greater context as to why we are seeking to make these changes. The larger changes are as follows: Elimination of the Care Deacon Board. The Care Board was initially designed to be the primary point for spiritual care for the Central Church body. Winter Baptism Celebration – Feb. 9

Central will host a winter baptism celebration on Sunday, Feb. 9 at 4:00pm. If you want to be baptized or you want to see and support our Central family as people declare their faith and commitment to Jesus Christ, visit centralsf.org/baptism to learn more. Frontline Training

You might have seen people praying at the front of the church at the end of services. That's our brand new Frontline Ministry in action, and we're always looking for new people to join us to help pray with and for the people of Central. Our next training is Thursday, Jan. 30th at 6:30pm in the Hearth Room. Anyone is welcome to join us, so we hope you'll be there! We're seeking to add people to our team of ushers who want to make the Worship Center a welcoming and inviting space during the 11:00 service. Our ushers are an incredibly valuable team of people who help make our weekend services happen! Spring Central Jam Registration

Registration for Spring Central Jam is now open! Our Central Jam children’s choir will meet nearly every Wednesday from Jan. 22 to Feb. 26. The children will be leading worship at all three services (8:00am, 9:30am, 11:00am) on Sunday, March 1. To learn more and sign up, visit centralsf.org/jam. Pure Desire Conquer Series for Men

Our Conquer Series for Men meets weekly starting January 23. The Conquer Series is a 10-week series that helps men gain freedom from pornography and other sexual sin. Meetings are held in room #167 in Central's Family Life Center from 7:00-9:00pm every Thursday night. Books and materials cost is $50 (scholarships are available). Divorce Care & Divorce Care 4 Kids

Divorce Care and Divorce Care 4 Kids will start at Central on January 12 (4:00pm-6:00pm) in room #168 of Central's Family Life Center. Divorce Care is for anyone going through a divorce or separation as well as couples facing difficulties in their relationship. Register for Preschool and Kindergarten

Central Preschool and Kindergarten registration is now live! If you or someone you know is looking to start preschool or kindergarten in the fall of 2020, we have plenty of spots available in a number of classes. ALPHA STARTS JAN. 5

ALPHA is a series of weekly sessions featuring a video followed by a small group discussion on important topics like “Why did Jesus have to die?” “How do I pray?” and “What does it mean to have faith?” ALPHA meets Sundays starting January 5th at 9:30am at Central, and adults at any stage in their faith journey are welcome. DATE NIGHT COMEDY TICKETS ON SALE

Last year Central partnered with Restoration Generation to bring you a laughter-filled Date Night Comedy event. Well we’re excited to announce that Date Night Comedy is BACK on January 23 and 24 (that’s right, two nights of comedy)! ETHIOPIA – BUILDING FOR HOPE

This fall, Central is raising $332,000 to help build a high school and improve other aspects of schools we support through Adams Thermal Foundation in Hosanna and Ottoro, Ethiopia. Safe Families For Kids Upcoming Events

Safe Families for Children surrounds families in crisis with caring, compassionate community. ADOPT A SIDEWALK (SNOW REMOVAL FOR SENIORS)

The Workers on Wheels program is putting on an “Adopt a Sidewalk” effort, asking volunteers to help seniors with snow removal throughout the winter season. More than 50 homeowners are on the needs list and more are calling in each day, with only enough volunteers committed to cover 20 homes! Volunteers need to have the snow removed within the City Ordinance time frame of 48 hours after the snow event for their assigned homeowner(s). Homeowners are assigned by the zip code or home/work address designated by the volunteers. For more details, contact Workers on Wheels Director Val Lietz at (605) 333-3307.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED – ROAD TO RECOVERY PROGRAM

The Road To Recovery program currently has several Road To Recovery volunteers who provide rides to and from cancer treatment appointments. Unfortunately, demand for rides in our area significantly exceed our current volunteer capacity—and it continues to grow. To learn how you can volunteer and help, visit cancer.org/drive.

Family Visitation Center

Family Visitation Center (FVC) exists to empower children to maintain healthy relationships with their family members through safe supervised visitations and exchanges. Children served by FVC have been caught in the middle of complicated family dynamics like divorce, domestic violence, or substance abuse. Safe supervised visits offer families the opportunity to spend time together in one of four private, child-friendly rooms monitored by professional, well-trained staff through video/audio observation from another room. Approximately 125 - 140 families (250+ children) access FVC’s safe supervised visitation and exchange services each month. Approximately 95% of the children served by FVC come from low- to moderate-income families; a number of them living in the core area (Pettigrew Heights/Axtell Park) of the city. One Voice Community Choir

One Voice is a choir for people who love to sing, bringing people together from different backgrounds, churches and musical experience with a goal of giving praise to God and inspiring hope in the people of our city.
