Under The Influence

Who (or what) is in control of your life? If we’re honest, our answers might include our calendar, our boss, our kids, our iPhones, or anything else that competes for our time and attention. If this is the case, and you’re a Christian, then maybe it’s time to stop and spend some time getting to know the person of the Holy Spirit.

“Don’t get drunk with wine, which leads to reckless living, but be filled by the Spirit.”

Over the course of six sessions, we’ll explore several aspects of the ministry of the Spirit: who He is, what He does, and why it matters. The goal of our time together is not primarily to be informed, but to be transformed, allowing the Creator of the universe to shape us into the people He wants us to be. To be under the influence of his divine presence, purpose, and power.

Heart Of The Matter

When Jesus spoke about “the kingdom of heaven,” He was saying that people who live under the rule and reign of God are directed and empowered by the King to live with extraordinary character and extraordinary purpose. The very heart of living in the kingdom, the most distinguishing feature of its citizens, is a transformed heart.

Over the next six weeks, we’ll look at how God changes us from the inside-out by giving us a new heart, one that wants to obey and please Him. And how this inside-out transformation should impact our relationships with our oikos and our enemies.

As we seek to influence our relational world, let’s approach these stories with fresh eyes, exploring below the surface to discover the profound wisdom that Jesus imparts. Only then will we encounter His truth, experience His grace, and embrace His mission.
