Three Crowns

Three Crowns | Palm Sunday

Jeff Wheeler | March 28, 2026

Sermon Description

In this week's message, Pastor Jeff walks us through the events of Holy Week, where Jesus receives two very different crowns before the cross. Drawing from Matthew 26 and 27, you'll see how a nameless woman's act of worship by pouring expensive perfume over Jesus' head was a bold, public declaration that he is King, even as those around her rejected him. You'll also see how the crown of thorns placed on Jesus by Roman soldiers was no accident. It was a powerful symbol of the curse of human sin being placed upon him so that it wouldn't have to fall on us. Through this message, we hope you'll be moved to consider the worth you place on Jesus, who willingly bore God's wrath in your place, and that you'd join us in crowning him with your worship this Easter season.

Series Overview

In the week leading up to the cross, Jesus wore three crowns. First, a crown of worship from a woman who anointed his head with oil. Second, a crown of suffering, with thorns placed on Jesus' head as he was mocked and beaten. Finally, a crown of glory as he rose from the dead.

Holy Week traces how devotion, suffering, and eternal glory culminate in the final days of Jesus.
