How did God show up in your life in the last 12 months?

It’s been 5 years since the end of my 42 year marriage. My husband was emotionally abusive. I went from a strong woman to a shell of a person trapped in a marriage. I was lonely but not alone. God never left my side! I have healed and rested and regained my voice since the divorce. I am surrounded and supported by three adult children and their families. I’ve intentionally sought out a Christian family and have found that in Bible studies and both Central Church and DT Central. I’ve shared my story and have been approached by women who are in abusive relationships or are healing in the aftermath. We belong to a club that no one wants to join. They see what God has done in my life. It is an opportunity to share are trials and to give them hope. They know it is because God will heal and restore a broken heart. I’m thankful for the healing I receive as I help others too.

How do you live differently knowing God is alive & active in your life?

I want to share it. I want to walk alongside of others. I try to be open to opportunities to help. I try to be a good listener.

How did you share the love of Jesus this year with someone who doesn't know Christ?

I loved them in practical ways. We share a garden. I painted them a picture when their dog died. We share food. We meet in the front yard just to talk. I encourage them as young parents.

Anything else you'd like to share about your story or testimony?

Walking with Christ is exciting. Every day I see new ways that he loves us and delights in celebrating me as an individual. I am thankful and blessed.
