Facilities Director

Job Summary

The Facilities Director at Central Church is responsible for the overall maintenance, operation, and management of church properties (Southwest Campus and Downtown). This position ensures that all church facilities support the spiritual and community objectives of the church by maintaining a safe, welcoming, and functional environment for worship, meetings, and other church-related activities. They work closely with staff leadership and Central Church’s Property Board to ensure wise stewardship of the facilities God has blessed us with. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilities Maintenance and Management
    • Oversee the upkeep, repair, and maintenance of the church’s physical buildings and outdoor grounds.
    • Schedule and supervise regular inspections and maintenance of systems such as HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and security.
    • Manage contracts and relationships with vendors and service providers.
    • Be able to be on call for emergencies,  church services and events when needed.
  • Project Management
    • Lead and coordinate renovation and construction projects, ensuring compliance with local building codes and regulations.
    • Prepare and monitor project budgets and timelines.
    • Coordinate with church leadership and committees to understand needs and priorities for facility usage and improvements.
  • Operations and Safety
    • Develop and implement facility usage policies and procedures to support various church activities.
    • Ensure compliance with health and safety standards and legal regulations.
    • Manage logistics for church events, coordinating setup and takedown for services and special events.
    • Make sure the church’s security and door locking systems are aligned with ministry activities
  • Budget and Administration
    • Develop and manage the annual facilities budget.
    • Develop 5 year facility improvement, repair and maintenance schedule
    • Provide regular reports on facility status and project progress to church leadership.
    • Maintain inventory control of materials, equipment, and supplies.
  • Team Leadership
    • Supervise and develop facilities staff and volunteers, including scheduling, training, and performance management.
    • Foster a collaborative work environment that encourages skill enhancement and teamwork.
    • Must exhibit walking in the “fruit of the Spirit” at all times with other staff and congregation

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in facilities management, engineering, business administration, or a related field.
      OR Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in large facilities management or operations, preferably in a church or non-profit setting.
    • Strong knowledge of building systems, construction principles, and maintenance practices.
    • Proven ability to manage budgets and projects.
    • Excellent organizational, leadership, and decision-making skills.
    • Must be a faithful follower of Jesus

    Skills:

    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with church members, staff, and external contractors.
    • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Technical skills in repair and maintenance tasks.
    • Problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.

    Physical Requirements:

    • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
    • Ability to navigate various areas of the facility, including climbing ladders and working in confined spaces.
