Deuteronomy: 34 Truths to Lay Hold of Our Purpose
Deuteronomy 28
Sermon Description
In this week’s message, Pastor Jeff walks us through Deuteronomy 28, where he unpacks the truth that God’s purpose requires embracing absolute moral truth. Throughout the message, we see the difference between a culture that defines truth for itself and a God whose truth remains constant across every generation. Through both biblical teaching and practical examples, Pastor Jeff explains how God’s truth is not subjective or changing, but rooted in His unchanging character. As the message continues, we are reminded that God’s moral truth is not meant to restrict us, but to lead us toward life, wisdom, and blessing. Pastor Jeff also explores the consequences of ignoring God’s truth and challenges us to build our lives on what God says rather than on personal preference or cultural opinion. Through this message, we hope you are encouraged to trust God’s Word fully, walk in obedience, and anchor your life in the truth that never changes.
Series Overview
Moses had led the Israelites out of Egypt and into the wilderness. For 40 years they had wandered in the desert, never entering the land God had promised them, because of their lack of faith. But it was a new day, and a new generation of Israelites were ready to seize the destiny God had promised. Moses wouldn’t enter the promised land because he had cursed the people in anger. Joshua would lead them in.
Moses was speaking to a new generation who were about to step into their God given destiny. Many of them were unborn when the law had been given to Moses. There would be many battles. There were giants in the land they would need to defeat. But as they stood on the eastern border of the land God had promised them, Moses gave the people one last reminder of what they needed to know to enter the land and seize their destiny.
Deuteronomy means “Second Law.” For the second time Moses tells the people the words God had spoken. If they were to seize their destiny they would need to put these words into action. Moses, the great coach, is giving his final pre-game speech before the Israelites take the field. As we stand on the edge of our spiritual promised land, God is reminding us of the same 34 truths necessary to win our spiritual battles and seize our destiny in Christ.
