Have you felt a call to serve in another country? Have you heard about Central’s Ethiopia initiative and wondered how you can get involved? Well we’re hosting an info meeting on April 23 from 2:00 to 3:00pm for anyone who’s interested.

Our next trip dates will be July 28-August 6 and the trip will have two specific roles. One: we will be leading an English camp for our in-country partner, Selamta. This is an opportunity for any lay person who has a heart to serve and teach children. You do NOT need to be a teacher or have an educational degree—anyone is welcome!

The second important piece of this trip will be the moment Kendra Michael, our Director of Operations, will be officially moving to Ethiopia. If you’re one of Kendra’s supporters or you just want to be involved in her move, this would be a fun opportunity for that. During our time in Ethiopia, we’ll stay in the capital city, Addis Ababa.

If hearing this information has even sparked a little bit of interest in you, then RSVP for our informational meeting at centralsf.org/julytrip.

The big commitment can happen later, but right now, it’s important you get all the information you need to process and pray about this amazing opportunity. The meeting will be on April 23 from 2:00pm to 3:00pm in the Hearth Room at Central Church. Light snacks will be provided. For any questions or concerns, text or call Kendra Michael at 605-929-2221 or email her at [email protected]

Are you the kind of person who wants to help people feel more connected and engaged at Central? If you are, we’ve got good news. We’re hosting an interest meeting and training for Regional Service volunteers on Monday, March 27 from 5:30-7:00pm in our Oakwood Chapel. A light dinner and childcare will be provided. To sign up, please register at centralsf.org/regionaltraining.

Central’s Worship Team is looking for trumpet players for our Easter services! If you are interested, please email [email protected].

Do you have a heart for serving children with special abilities? If you do, we’d love to plug you in to volunteer in a one-on-one capacity with some of those awesome kids during our 11:15 service. Please contact [email protected] to get more info and get plugged in.

We have not one, not two, but THREE great opportunities to serve in Pettigrew Heights.

The first is a new Downtown Tutoring Program that will run on Monday nights from 5:30-7:00pm. It will be a 1-to-1 tutoring opportunity that will provide adults with a chance to pour into the lives of elementary students, helping them build character, talk about Bible stories, and more. You can sign up at centralsf.org/helptutor.

The next opportunity is for people who can join us as needed as preschool assistant substitutes when members of our Downtown Preschool staff need to be gone for a day. This occurs at various times Monday through Friday between 9am-3pm. Substitutes come in and assist staff with preschool students ages 3-5 through the school day and it IS a paid position.

Finally, we’ll start our English classes again at the Downtown Campus in partnership with Reach Literacy. We’re looking for volunteers to help with childcare or assist with conversations and help the English teacher during the class time. These classes are on Mondays and Wednesdays starting mid-fall from either 10:00 to 11:30am OR 5:30 to 7:00pm at our Downtown Campus.

Contact Jessi Copeland at [email protected] if you’re interested in getting involved or have any questions. Your willingness to help will make a huge impact.

As our church continues to grow, our Kid Central children’s ministry is growing along with it. In order to provide safe, effective programming for our kids, we need more volunteers to step up on Sunday mornings. If you’ll answer the call to serve for just a single service, email [email protected] and let us know. We’ve got spots available for both early childhood and elementary classes, and we’d love to get you plugged in as soon as you’re willing.

Our Welcome Team is very much in need of greeters, ushers, and Welcome Desk volunteers for our Saturday and Sunday services! If you are interested in serving, please contact our Welcome Director, Stephanie Holsing ([email protected]) or our Connections Pastor Haley Wiggers ([email protected]) and we’ll be in touch with you.
